Herbert Ross has managed to keep it a gentle romance, and keep it fairly buoyant. What this all adds up to is that one can look at Peter O'Toole performance without too much pain.

In Herbert Ross' musical version of the classic 1939 film, Peter O'Toole (Oscar-nominated) essays the role memorably played by Robert Donat, who won an Oscar.
