Back on the Strip, tough-as-nails Verna (Tiffany Haddish) sends her broken-hearted son Merlin (Spence Moore II) to Vegas, determined to help him make his dreams come true as a professional magician. But a chance meeting at a run-down hotel with Mr. Big (Wesley Snipes) - the frontman of the once notorious Black male stripper crew known as “The Chocolate Chips” (J.B. Smoove, Faizon Love, Bill Bellamy, and Gary Owen) - suddenly has Merlin thrust into a different kind of spotlight. In a race against time to get his girl back and help the out-of-shape and out-of-sync “Chips” rediscover their groove, Merlin must rely on his biggest piece of magic yet… the one he was born with.

Unfortunately, this comedy is hampered by jokes that seem both stale (as in they would have been fresher in the early 1990s) and off-putting...

"Back on the Strip" is worth seeing for its hardworking cast.

Despite big-name cast, "Strip" is a drag.

Despite some amusing moments, it never really takes off, burdened by a tiresome romantic subplot that periodically stops the movie dead in its tracks.

Back on the Strip doesn’t know when to leave well enough alone, and while some of this stuff works in fits and starts – particularly the romantic rivalry between [Love] and [Smoove] – most of it struggles to rise above everything else going on.
