1980. On a cool spring night in the vast Australian outback, a baby disappears. The disappearance of nine-week-old Azaria from a campsite at Ayers Rock, obsesses a nation. Azaria's body has never been found. But her parents, Lindy (Meryl Streep) and Michael Chamberlain (Sam Neill), are tried by rumor, suspicion, and religious intolerance--and in a court of law Lindy is found guilty of murder. With no body, motive, or weapon, why does practically an entire nation conclude that a happily married young couple killed their baby daughter? In this chilling true story, a bereaved mother becomes the most hated woman in Australia ... a waking nightmare that begins with A Cry in the Dark.
