It doesn't work.

At worst, it amplifies what detractors of the subgenre complain about: unnecessary camera shaking, jump scares and fake outs without any real fear or tension.

As someone who passionately, deeply loves movies, especially horror movies, and laments that not nearly enough genre offerings actually land a theatrical release, I beg of you, please don't go see The Gallows.

[I]t's one of the lower rung POV horror films around.
