During World War II, when men went away to defend the country, women took their places in the workforce, helping to win the war by building the guns, tanks and planes needed to fight. And the independence and pride they gained on the assembly line would forever change the ladies of the Swing Shift. Academy Award winners Goldie Hawn and Christine Lahti star as Kay Walsh and Helen Zanussi, two very different women, neighbors, best friends and co-workers building aircraft. Kay, a young Midwestern housewife learns about life and men through her friendship with the more worldly Helen. But when Kay falls in love with a trumpet player named Lucky (Kurt Russell), will her marriage survive the war?
