A false accusation . . . an angry mob . . . a seething hatred. An American tragedy kept secret for more than 60 years. In 1923, predominantly black Rosewood, Florida, is razed by an enraged mob when a white woman lies, saying a black man attacked her. But even at the height of the senseless massacre, a white shopkeeper and a black war veteran heroically rescue women and children. A train that runs through Rosewood is commandeered in the middle of the disaster to carry them to safety. Based on a true story, this wrenching drama exposes the best and worst of human nature . . . and the tragically shameful events in Rosewood.

Critics Consensus: In some respects, Rosewood struggles to present a full picture of the real-life tragedy it dramatizes, but it remains a harrowing depiction of racial violence.
