Clint Eastwood directs William Holden and Kay Lenz as a mismatched pair who eventually find common ground. Successful businessman Frank Harmon (William Holden), disillusioned after a bitter divorce, thinks he can shut out the pain by isolating himself at his beach house. But when free-spirited Breezy (Kay Lenz) appears on his doorstep, Frank is unable to turn her away.

...a predictably slow-moving drama that grows more and more absorbing as it progresses...

This Manic Pixie Dream Girl prototype is like a puppy, unruly but adoring and adorable, as well as clothing-resistant. The May-December "now romance" was poorly received then, and today is pretty much unwatchable.

What's remarkable about the film is that the love story never feels offensive, exploitative, or icky; instead, it's intelligent, believable, and sympathetic.

Looks like some remnant from the hippie days. But what a surprise to see that Breezy is really quite touching and even delightful.

Things do get a bit better for [Holden], if not for us.
