Amazing fire effects highlight this Ron Howard gem about two quarreling brothers in the Chicago Fire Department. William Baldwin and Kurt Russell star with Academy Award®-winner Robert De Niro in this action-packed tale of men against nature. Donald Sutherland has a nasty turn as an arsonist. Thrills from start to finish!

What Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that Backdraft is a 1991 drama in which William Baldwin plays a young firefighter trying to prove himself to a veteran firefighter who's also his rival and older brother. In the movie's opening flashback scenes, a young boy watches as his father, a firefighter, perishes inside a burning building. There are graphic depictions of charred dead bodies in the aftermath of arson -- one body shown halfway through a car windshield, and another shown in the morgue. Characters are injured, hospitalized, and die while fighting fires. One of the lead characters gets drunk and fights the boyfriend of his ex-wife in the middle of a retirement party. Beer drinking in bars. Cigar and cigarette smoking. Constant profanity, including "f--k." Characters shown having sex on top of a firetruck (no nudity, black bra shown tossed aside that later appears wrapped around a firehose). Brief male nudity of two characters in the showers (buttocks).
