Eleven-year-old North (Elijah Wood, The Lord of the Rings trilogy) realizes that his parents (Jason Alexander and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, TV’s “Seinfeld”) never pay attention to him. After talking to a wise man in an Easter Bunny suit (Bruce Willis, Die Hard), North comes up with the idea of becoming a free agent. After winning a court case, North is given two months to find new parents, leading to an amazing, hilarious adventure. Featuring an all-star cast including Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters), Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine), Kathy Bates (Misery), Jon Lovitz (TV’s “Saturday Night Live”), John Ritter (TV’s “Three’s Company”) and, in her first-ever role, Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation), NORTH is a comedy unlike any other. Newly remastered.

Critics Consensus: Laden with schmaltz and largely bereft of evident narrative purpose, North represents an early major disappointment from previously sure-handed director Rob Reiner.

The amalgams of TV stereotypes that satirize foreign and regional cultures are embarrassing.
