It becomes more thought and spoken than intrinsically felt, but everything on the tip of the movie’s tongue is already covered by Adams’ performance.

Even as it is unfortunately shot with starkly bright lighting like it’s a generic comedy, more complexity lurks in the shadows. What makes it work more than anything is Adams who is, through the film’s flaws, giving a rather amazing performance.

Unfortunately, the film doesn’t fully embrace its horror elements, and its feral energy may often feel like an awkward mix with its otherwise patient take on female rage. Still, Nightbitch proves to be a potent take on motherhood.
