The film's artistic ambition, psychological explorations, and fun action get largely lost in its unnecessarily long runtime and unconventional editing style.

For audiences ever fatigued by superhero movies cranked out like fast food, Hulk tastes like gourmet cuisine. Time has been kind to Hulk. Today, a movie often cited as one of the worst of its genre plays a lot more like one of the best.

Hulk has long been a misunderstood film but it's a very different type of comic book movie and should be reappraised as such.

[Eric] Bana is bland to the bone but the Hulk is a sight to behold: he’s like a giant child out of control in a raging tantrum, he leaps and bounds on his pile-driver legs, and at rest his face has the innocence and wonder of an infant.

What a big, moody, anti-violent spectacle. Ang Lee strips the piece of its heroism and stages a Frankenstein story where superpowers are curses and weapons.
