Four top fighter pilots, now retired, are brought back into service to assist NASA during a major satellite crisis. Although their cocky, nonconformist attitudes kept the quartet out of the space program in the 1960s, their specialized knowledge about the workings of a damaged satellite unexpectedly enables them, late in their lives, to get another chance to go into space--if they can pass the same physical and skill tests as the younger astronauts.

I’m not sure that a relaxed treatment of tense outer-space moments is the way to go. The last half hour — the climax we’re supposedly here for — is flat-out dull.

Takes a ludicrous premise simultaneously at face value and also not very seriously.

Space Cowboys features a masterclass performance in acting from four of the hardest working actors of their generation.

Space Cowboys is at least three different movies--high-tech thriller, low-key comedy, rumination on aging--jammed together into an implausible but very likable entertainment.

A cheerful, thoroughly unambitious yarn.
