As the powerful voice of a radio DJ (Taj Mahal) fills the southwestern night with incendiary social commentary, seven lost souls are escaping their past as they race toward an uncertain future. Wit Roy (Kevin Pollak), an abusive, unemployed clown, and Earlene Demers (Penelope Ann Miller), his sexy white-trash girlfriend, are fleeing the scene of the performer's latest act of rage. Meanwhile, lonely trucker Odell Parks (Robert Forster) comes to the aid of a stranded Navajo woman, and falls in love with her daughter. Down the highway, two sisters pick up a hitchhiker in an area where a series of gruesome murders have occurred. As the passion and rage both on the air and on the road intensify, this unusual group speeds toward a spirited climax as their worlds collide Outside Ozona.
