Juan of the Dead is a huge laugh at the Cuban revolution.

I'm a sucker for zombie movies, and well-made horror comedies. This movie was made for a guy like me.

The visually arresting bleached browns of Havana form a perfect backdrop for the liberal dousing of blood and severed limbs, whilst the plethora of set-piece deaths appear fresh in their originality.

Polished and heartfelt, Juan brings a new voice in genre filmmaking from a land hamstrung by politics for decades.

A silly and occasionally creepy zombie movie, but one that also dares to have a brain...
