Wesley Snipes stars as United States Treasury agent Jimmy Mercer, whose partner dies in a sting operation gone bad. Now on a quest to find the killer, Mercer is a cop who's reached the Boiling Point. Mercer pursues the sadistic ex-con (Viggo Mortensen--The Lord of the Rings films) responsible his partner's death as the ex-con goes teams up with a manipulative con man (Dennis Hopper) for a bloody two-man crime spree through Newark, New Jersey in this hard-edged action thriller.

In terms of story and action, the gratuitously named Boiling Point has even less going for it...

The actors find themselves in the service of a lamely plotted and colorless screenplay, with Harris failing at his efforts to write the kind of pungent talk turned out by Richard Price.

So slow-moving and lacking in excitement that it's torture to sit through.
