While traveling to the east cost to open a car wash, paroled convict Max (Hackman) meets a sailor named Lion (Pacino) who dreams of reuniting with his wife and child after six years. Lion helps Max learn to understand and manage his anger, and Max discovers the fragility of his new friend Lion. But as both learn that they will never realize their goals, they discover a friendship even more important than their former dreams. Winner of the Cannes Film Festival Palm D'Or award.
