Western adventure and thrilling mystery combine in this drama followingTexas frontier lawyer Timothy Higgins (Jeffrey Hunter), who rides into town to defend his former girlfriend Rita Dillard (Joanna Moore), who is charged with killing a man. After the married Rita rebuffs her former business associate's romantic advances, he threatens to expose her past exploits, and his scheme eventually leads to bribery, witness tampering, and murder. Higgins must walk a tightrope of defending Dillard's life and protecting her honor.
